COVID-19 and your visit to Lucky Fish in Key Largo

May 20, 2020

[UPDATED August 11 , 2021]

Our community works hard to minimize the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) here in the Florida Keys, but it continues to be a concern. Current visitor guidelines for the Florida Keys are available from the Monroe County Tourist Development Council.

We’ve been comfortably welcoming visitors on our charter boat over the past year and a half with these features and practices:

  • Our capacity is, and always has been, 4 divers or 6 passengers total.
  • We book single-party groups only and won’t combine groups to ‘fill’ the boat.
  • We only book one charter trip per day, allowing us to thoroughly clean and disinfect surfaces between trips.
  • Our boat is docked at a small neighborhood marina and we have no public shop or indoor space.
  • Most of our customers bring their own scuba and snorkel gear. We strictly follow best practices from the experts at PADI and DAN for disinfecting our loaner gear between use.
  • We have plenty of fresh water on board for washing hands, as well as reef-safe hand sanitizer from our friends at Stream2Sea.

On a personal level, everyone who works on our boat has been fully vaccinated. We still watch our social distance and wear masks in most indoor public spaces to keep ourselves and others healthy and strong. And of course we’ll be maintaining our protocols for washing gear and the boat between visitors no matter what!

If you’re thinking of making a visit to the Keys, visit our Plan Now page and let us know so we can get you in the calendar. Remember, we never ask for deposits so there’s no need to worry if your plans change!

Bookmark this page on our blog to keep up with the information about visiting the Keys and guidance from the experts at PADI, DAN and others. We’ll keep you posted about how we’re applying that to keep ourselves and our visitors healthy.

Stay well and we look forward to seeing you when you’re ready to see us!
