All good things come to an end

Boat in shallow water with people waving
April 17, 2023

In early 2023, we reluctantly decided to wind down our Lucky Fish Scuba charter business operations over coming months.

We started this business from scratch almost five years ago.

We wanted to meet the needs of divers, snorkelers and other water-loving visitors to the Keys with one-of-a-kind private charter boat trips for families or small groups of 6 passengers.

It remains unique in the area for operating as an exclusive private charter with personalized service and flexible trip timing on a premium boat.

Initially focused on scuba only, the business quickly expanded with demand for snorkel trips, sunset cruises and eco tours – and for customized trips featuring a combination of these activities.

Lucky Fish Scuba is now a valued company name in the Florida Keys charter tour sector.

We have an active website, established social media presence and strong reputation — including TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards in 2021 and 2022.

Although primarily serving tourists to the Florida Keys, the customer list includes a number of repeat customers.

For almost five years it’s been an amazing win-win adventure for customers and ourselves. In fact the past three months have been among our best in the history of the business with little bit of everything : diving, snorkeling, sandbar, ecotours, sunsets and even an advanced open water course.

About the business:

  • Annual business revenue is in the order of $100k with no outstanding debt.
  • We are willing to consider a transaction with or without the boat, a meticulously maintained World Cat 295 Dual Console power catamaran worth approximately $200k.
  • The boat was purchased new in 2018 with this business in mind and many custom features have been added, included non-skid marine flooring, extra-long ladder, retractable bimini for bow seating and stern, and autopilot.
  • Other equipment available include a Float On cradle for lifting the boat out the water, boat spare parts and scuba diving gear including aluminum tanks, various wetsuits, BCDs and lead weights.

This business opportunity would be ideal for anyone who’s dreamed of running their own boat charter in the Florida Keys – or add a proven premium option to an existing dive operation.

Requests:

If you know of anyone even remotely interested in living the dream of a charter boat owner in the Florida Keys, please have them get in touch.

Keep diving. Keep bringing your family out on the water together. Keep supporting small businesses, especially those in tourism. Keep being a Lucky Fish.

With love,
Jill Glenn and crew
